Everything Is Crab POIs: All 12 Points of Interest and Their Choices

This page explains what POIs are, how the 12 current POI types shape a run, and what each choice actually does. You can skim the grouped overview first, read every POI as a guide card, then use the complete reference table at the end for quick lookup.

What Is a POI?

POI means Point of Interest. In Everything is Crab, it is a map interaction node that offers a small set of mutually exclusive choices when you reach it.

Some POIs are simple and immediate, like taking healing or a direct stat increase. Others only become strong when your build, body parts, or current map state line up with them.

That is why a good POI page needs more than a flat dump. The important part is not only what each button says, but when that branch changes the rest of the run.

What POIs Do in a Run

Points of Interest are not all doing the same job. Some are clean stat forks, some stabilize a rough run, and a few act more like system events with boss, ally, or day-night consequences.

The easiest way to read them is to separate stable growth nodes from survival nodes, system-changing nodes, and event-heavy nodes.

Once you look at them that way, choices like Wish for winter, Protect the egg, or Study stop feeling like flavor buttons and start reading like run-planning decisions.

POI Types at a Glance

Before diving into all 12 entries one by one, it helps to group them by what they usually change in a run.

Progress and Stat POIs

Algae Reef, Carved Tree, Chaos Tree, Growing Tree, and Lotus Plant mostly change how fast you scale or which stat direction you lean into. They are the easiest POIs to read at a glance, but some still hide mode-specific or condition-specific details.

Healing and Survival POIs

Healing Pond, Mud Pond, and Oasis focus on keeping a run alive. The difference is that Healing Pond is light sustain, Oasis is the stronger recovery version, and Mud Pond mixes defense with utility and adaptation.

Utility and Run-Shaping POIs

Calendar Stone and Giant Mushroom are less about immediate raw stats and more about changing systems around you. They influence day-night pacing or mushroom-side mechanics instead of just adding one more number.

High-Variance and Companion POIs

Unattended Nest and Frozen Specimen feel more event-driven than the rest. They touch boss spawns, charmed allies, random ally outcomes, and variable rewards, so they deserve more explanation than a flat table row.

All 12 POIs Explained

Each POI below keeps all of its branches together, adds a short run-context summary, and then layers in the most useful extra notes for actual run decisions.

Algae Reef icon

Algae Reef

A clean early stat fork. It is useful when you want a straightforward POI that asks for no setup and no special timing.

Choices

Munch! icon

Munch!

Increase Max HP by +7

Play! icon

Play!

Increase [AD] by +1

Extra notes

  • Algae Reef plays like a dedicated two-way POI, not a vague random event.
  • This is one of the simplest POIs in the current guide: one branch is raw survivability and the other is raw offense.
Calendar Stone icon

Calendar Stone

A schedule-shaping POI rather than a simple stat reward. Its value depends on whether your run wants longer daytime or longer nighttime.

Choices

Wish for summer icon

Wish for summer

Increases the daytime and reduces the nighttime

Wish for winter icon

Wish for winter

Increases the nighttime and reduces the daytime

Extra notes

  • The two branches are `Wish for summer` and `Wish for winter`.
  • Use it when day-night timing matters to your route; it is not just a flavor choice.
Carved Tree icon

Carved Tree

A growth-versus-defense decision. One branch accelerates leveling and the other gives a cleaner permanent PD gain.

Choices

Contemplate icon

Contemplate

Gain a full level of [Progress]

Endless: Gain X% of [Progress] needed for the next level

Hone icon

Hone

Increase [PD] by +1

Extra notes

  • The Progress reward has a normal version and an Endless-specific percentage version.
  • That makes this POI more mode-sensitive than a plain level-up reward.
Chaos Tree icon

Chaos Tree

A high-upside fork between random stat acceleration and immediate Mutagen Points. It is more volatile than the simpler tree-style POIs.

Choices

Eat chaos fruit icon

Eat chaos fruit

Greatly increases 1 random stat

Let the fruit be icon

Let the fruit be

Gain 5 [MPs]

Extra notes

  • The current reference text presents two outcomes: a large random stat bump or `5 [MPs]`.
  • Treat it as a volatile growth pick: strong upside, less control than a targeted stat choice.
Unattended Nest icon

Unattended Nest

The most event-like POI in the current set. It mixes food, boss risk, social gain, and a defend-the-objective branch in one place.

Choices

Crack the egg icon

Crack the egg

Spawns high rarity Meat food and 50% chance to spawn a land boss

Hide the egg icon

Hide the egg

+1 [Social]

Protect the egg icon

Protect the egg

Defend the egg successfully for 1 minute to spawn a charmed small version of a land boss

Extra notes

  • The current in-game choice set includes all three branches: `Crack the egg`, `Hide the egg`, and `Protect the egg`.
  • Crack leans into food and boss risk, Hide into social gain, and Protect into an objective-style defensive choice.
Frozen Specimen icon

Frozen Specimen

A resource-heavy POI that feels closer to a shop or event node than a basic stat pickup. Its most important detail is that part of the reward can vary by run.

Choices

Chomp icon

Chomp

Gain a dynamic reward Costs X Mutagen Points

Crack icon

Crack

Gain a random ally

Lick icon

Lick

Gain a dynamic reward Costs X Mutagen Points

Extra notes

  • `Chomp` and `Lick` can show a variable reward name and Mutagen cost, so check the offered value before committing.
  • Treat this as a system-heavy event: one route can offer an evolution purchase and another can create a Charmed Ally.
Giant Mushroom icon

Giant Mushroom

A synergy POI for mushroom and poison-adjacent runs. Its branches make more sense as system support than as raw universal value.

Choices

Dip icon

Dip

Increase number of ticks of your poisons by 1 extra tick

Spread icon

Spread

Increase mushrooms' spawning rate by 10%

Study icon

Study

Increase the success rate of mushroom identification by 10%

Extra notes

  • All three branches connect to mushroom-side systems: poison ticks, mushroom spawn rate, and identification success.
  • It is most valuable when your route already benefits from mushrooms, poison pressure, or better identification.
Growing Tree icon

Growing Tree

A more varied stat fork than Algae Reef. Instead of just defense versus offense, it also includes a random-stat route.

Choices

Attack the leaf icon

Attack the leaf

5% [PD] increase

Eat the leaf icon

Eat the leaf

10% increase on a random stat

Grab the leaf icon

Grab the leaf

5% [AD] increase

Extra notes

  • The three branches separate PD, AD, and random stat growth rather than overlapping into one generic stat bucket.
  • Use it when you want a broader stat choice than the simpler two-branch growth POIs.
Healing Pond icon

Healing Pond

The lighter healing-water option. It is a practical stabilizer when you need immediate recovery or modest sustain scaling.

Choices

Bathe icon

Bathe

Heal for 50% of your Max Hp

Drink icon

Drink

Increases [Health Regen] by +1.5

Extra notes

  • The two branches separate direct healing from regen scaling: `50% of your Max Hp` versus `+1.5 Health Regen`.
  • It overlaps with Oasis conceptually, but this is the lighter recovery stop.
Lotus Plant icon

Lotus Plant

A two-branch POI with one obvious leveling route and one condition-based utility route. It is more interesting than it first looks because the second branch is gated.

Choices

Eat the plant icon

Eat the plant

Gain a full level of [Progress]

Endless: Gain X% of [Progress] needed for the next level

Rest on top icon

Rest on top

5% [Cooldowns] reduction

Prerequisite: Size smaller than 100%

Extra notes

  • The in-game wording lists the prerequisite `Size smaller than 100%` for `Rest on top`.
  • Like Carved Tree, Lotus Plant also has an Endless-specific Progress line, so read it with mode in mind.
Mud Pond icon

Mud Pond

A mixed utility POI that bundles temporary defense, a Tail-gated social branch, and environment adaptation into one stop.

Choices

Mud Bath icon

Mud Bath

Decreases damage taken by 25% for 1 minute

Scent Marking icon

Scent Marking

Increases [Social] by +2

Prerequisite: Tail

Thermoregulate icon

Thermoregulate

Increases [Cold Adaptation] and [Heat Adaptation] by 10%

Extra notes

  • The current reference notes that `Scent Marking` requires `Tail` rather than being always available.
  • `Mud Bath` is the defensive branch, while the other choices lean more into social or environmental utility.
Oasis icon

Oasis

The stronger healing-water version. Compared with Healing Pond, it pushes both the immediate heal and the sustain branch much harder.

Choices

Bathe icon

Bathe

Heal for 100% of your Max Hp

Drink icon

Drink

Increases [Health Regen] by +3

Extra notes

  • The in-game wording upgrades the direct heal to `100% of your Max Hp` and the sustain branch to `+3 Health Regen`.
  • Treat Oasis as a higher-value healing node rather than just a small numeric upgrade to Healing Pond.

How many POIs are in Everything is Crab right now?

This guide currently covers 12 Points of Interest and 29 total choices.

Which POIs have three choices instead of two?

Unattended Nest, Frozen Specimen, Giant Mushroom, Growing Tree, and Mud Pond currently show three choices. The rest show two.

Are all POI effects fully confirmed?

Most choice text is clear, but a few exact outcomes can still vary by mode, run state, or hidden conditions. Treat those notes as practical guidance rather than a damage-formula promise.

Why keep the reference table if the guide cards explain everything?

Because the table is still the fastest way to compare choices at a glance. The guide cards add context, while the table stays useful for quick scanning.
